I’m currently totally hooked on Tiny Rogues.

… I’m shocked. I thought all development on subsonic had dried up. I used it and dsub for literal years, but switched to Plex after it seemed I was paying for nothing. :(
I also like LoseIt!, but somehow I also ended up paying for it, too. $20/yr. I don’t like the free version as much
In the business and government world, that IS a very short timeline, but it CAN be done. Heck, I’d argue that there are potential maps ALREADY drawn that could be used. What can’t be done in that timeline is any funny business or gamesmanship.
Hmm. Data is only for 1/1/23 though 12/15/23. The last 15 days of the year aren’t significant enough to change the outcome? Somehow, I’d think otherwise. For example, I spent $120 at the start of the winter sale, but nothing in Oct-Nov.
Uncertain software support is why I picked a P8p over that device, even when I prefer it’s hardware over the P8p.
Dude doesn’t care about anything but himself. Everyone should know that already, by now, but it’s still a good reminder when he says something, anything: it’s just words and he doesn’t care about that.
These are true criticisms, but I’m not sure if they’re fair. To the best of my recollection, Steam had none of those things in 2008, either, about the time they were the age of the EGS, now.
You could say they should (be able to) compete on the merits alone, without free games or paid exclusivity, but that argument wouldn’t reflect reality: you need a hefty carrot to lure people away from their comfort zone.
Yeah, I’m not defending any cheese choice; everyone can do themselves. I was just remarking that food appearance heavily influences sales, and everyone is susceptible to that bias.
But almost no one would buy it if it looked all clumped up like that in the package in the store.
It’s believable. If 25% of the warrants they receive are for location data, there is a shed load of money to be saved by simply not storing it.
Probably simple math, whether or not the stored location data is more valuable than the cost of legal compliance.
If it was important, why wait so long before prompting them again? No, it’s not your fault, but if it was a machine on the other end you would have already gotten an answer, so some understanding and accommodation seems reasonable.
Bad take.
I’ll remind you that Steam needs SOME competition in order to actually get better, and I can’t think of anyone else able to do it (Microsoft has kinda already tried and failed). Remember when Steam suddenly addressed long-standing issues with the client and storefront a couple years ago? That was because the EGS appeared.
I’ll also remind young folks that the Internet was extremely negative regarding steam when it was new. Yes, I’ve been on Steam for 20+ years.
Tldr: EGS is fine. Relax.
Edit: clarity
If you’re on Lemmy, you’re already set up to “not understand”. You probably have no trouble installing a new chat app and using it.
I chat with 20-30 people in my neighborhood, all middle aged adults, and they all have iPhones. If I were to ask, only one would accommodate my request to use a different app, and it’d still be disruptive to his routine. I’m not angry at any of these folks; I blame Apple. Though they have a good product, they are totally behaving like a monopolist.
It’s not the features and never has been. It comes preinstalled, it just works, and it works perfectly with most people. No one calls it “iMessage”. They call it “texting”.
I agree it’s a bad first step. I’d keep trying idea on the table, but I’d start by working with the European car manufacturers to create huge tariffs on those cars. Make it impossible for them to be sold at those prices in Western markets
I mean, before Gmail, I had a new email address every 2-3 years. I’ve had Gmail for what, almost 20 years? That’s not what I’d define as “ephemeral.”
Let me save you two clicks: in 2021, some dude made some unsubstantiated claim in Congress that organized retail theft account for 45 billion in losses. The retail trade group in question picked up this number and ran with it without ever validating the underlying claim. The guy and or his company that made the underlying claim isn’t returning calls or requests for comment.
Hmmm. I own it but haven’t ever played it. Are there bad controls or other bugs or quirks with the original… You know, something that would justify a remake?
What is a sea lion in this context?
I tried several and most did not play well with the Steam Deck. Serum and the car survival game were the bigger disappointments, there; really wanted to try them.
I’m awake you can download proton hacks to make them work, but that’s not the point, imo .
