  • Who cares if it already exists, just make it.

Also consider the possibility when the other, more popular projects got enshittified. Now the fleeing users have an option to switch to your project. It actually happened on one of my side project. I made it because I want to try building my own version of X. It got ~2000 users, but later down the road, X got sold to a new shitty owner that waste no time to enshittify it, and my side project suddenly grow to 20,000 users overnight.

  • Somewhat related. Basically, the management of the .ml TLD are being handed back to Mali government, and they seem to revoking.ml domains left and right.

I suspect they’re revoking registration for .ml domains that was registered for free. the company that originally managed .ml domains had a free domain offers where you could register any .ml domain for free, the caveat is you don’t have the ownership right to that free domain. Maybe Mali government doesn’t honor such free domain registration and wish to revoke them all.

  • Back in the day, we tried to get Reddit unblocked in our country, which blocks porn websites. No amount of arguments can convince the government agency in charge of the block list that Reddit is not a porn site. They probably got tired of us pestering them and send back a whole bunch of screenshots of porns in Reddit to justify the block.

I guess Reddit is a porn site.

  • This particular type of interrupt exists because it would feel really bad if you were typing, and the text didn’t show up until several seconds later when the CPU felt like processing the (hopefully) buffered input.

Meanwhile me enjoying multiple seconds latency when typing some commands in ssh using putty inside a windows VM using RDP accessed via a shitty corporate VPN from the other side of the world, while using another VPN because corporate blocked all traffics from other countries…
