The biggest consequence was a settlement payment to those mistreated. Which didn’t come out of the police budget or pension so basically they got to force the taxpayer to bail them out for their incompetence after the government already paid over a billion dollars for extra security.

If you enjoy turn based rpgs, you really should give them a try. Infinite Wealth is especially good and you don’t need to have played previous games to enjoy it. Not only do they do an amazing job of being funny or dramatic in all the right places, but there is such a wealth of content that you’ll regularly get lost in side quests and minigames on your way to completing story tasks.

I started a permanent loblaws boycott this week. Won’t be shopping at any of the other big names either. Preparing to participate in the boycott led me to sign up for a co op that I should’ve been using all along and I don’t see myself ever going back. Anything they don’t carry I can get at a local independent grocer and they’re usually a little cheaper than no frills anyway.

Co ops are a solution to corporate greed, use them whenever possible.

Yes. I still use my classic regularly. 20 000+ songs on it without ever being connected to itunes. Rhythmbox for linux works great when I want to switch things up. Winamp did the job back when I was still using windows. Maybe you were forced to use itunes briefly back when the ipod was first released, but it didn’t take long for other programmers to figure out how to make their software compatible.

I appreciate the reasoned response. Maybe by the end of the game the pay items don’t feel limited, but they did in the first 20 hours I played before returning it.

If I was disappointed solely at the sales compared to my dislike then you’re right to think its nonsense. What I’m disappointed in is a business I have loyally and regularly purchased from for over 30 years compromising their product and making it worse to try and fleece more money. I also worry deeply that the game selling well despite the flak means every major developer will find their own way to follow suit and refine the tactic until it becomes the norm.

It absolutely is. Wakestones are limited without microtransactions and there are plenty of poorly explained quests where one could easily kill something they shouldn’t. It happened to me. I even saved right before to try and be safe only for the game to autosave over the second the npc attacked me. The only save you have full control over is your second save tied to the inns, which are expensive and inferior to camping due to the buffs camping provides.

This is really disappointing. The game does give off GOTY vibes until you realize big issues like only having one save file you can fully control, intentially vague dialogue for key quest details, and bad AI. All of which just happens to encourage mistakes that can only be fixed using items which are very limited without microtransactions. Its like an MBA took over in the final phase of development and made it a sleazy moneygrab. The fact that it is a hit means we can expect more developers to adopt this tactic and take it further. Capcom has become EA.

Thankfully I was able to get a refund on Dragons Dogma and used that money to buy Rise of the Ronin. Was not disappointed. They are very similar games but Rise of the Ronin has all the QoL features gamers have come to expect like unlimitted fast travel and saves.

Not sure about a decrease, but you can easily get it fully refunded if they fuck up. I tip really well because I used to be a food courier myself. Every few months some idiot delivers my pizza upside down or leaves my order outside my building and I get my tip refunded with ease. I have no idea if that money is refunded from the dasher’s pay though.

Not only that, but the logging industry has a legal obligation to reforest areas they logged and ensure those trees reach free growing status. A legal obligation that is enforced better than most environmental regulations in the country. The logging companies wouldn’t plant trees AT ALL without it. In places like Russia where there isn’t that regulation, they just let the cut blocks regenerate slowly on their own because its so much cheaper.

Most tree planters would agree. The industry has a high rate turnover so half the people who do it don’t stick around long enough to really wrap their minds around how bad it is. I spent over a decade in the industry and planted a little over 1.3 million in that time, but I don’t tell people about it IRL because I got sick and tired of cringing with my entire being every time someone thanked me for it.

The saddest part is that in my experience, companies doing carbon credits or naturalization projects do a far worse job than the logging companies. We had a recurring contract with the carbon farmer where we went to the same fields year after year and planted trees that immediately died due to poor stock selection and ground preparation. They don’t have the regulation and oversight that the logging companies do. They also profit from convincing people to pay them to plant so it is in their best interests those trees die so they can maximize their profits with less land use.

There are some baby sturgeons that Germany hopes will result in a stable population. However it will be decades before anyone can tell if that was successful. That isn't at all comparable to the Americas where somewhat stable populations have persisted. We're talking about creatures that live longer than humans and reach sexual maturity later. There is a very real chance that predators and invasive species will prevent or otherwise complicate any reintroduction efforts.
