As excited as I am to see my home city actually growing and gaining national attention, I miss the chill cow-town vibes. Traffic is only gonna get worse from here.

I spent two years working with Habitat as an AmeriCorps crew lead and it was such a rewarding experience. I learned all kinds of trade skills and got to meet so many good people from all walks of life. It gave me the direction I was looking for in my life when I needed it most.
I mean the war that showed the world that territorial conquest is back on the menu, and now other countries, like Israel and China, are trying to emulate.
World War 3 is already here, it just hasn’t ramped up yet.
As someone from and currently still living in middle America, Trump winning wasn’t surprising in the least. Part of me still blames the Democrats and “coastal left” in general for not paying enough attention to what has been going on here over the last thirty years. There was a time when these states could have become a bulwark for leftism with the right campaigning and political tactics, but by ignoring and culturally minimizing them it guaranteed that Christo-fascism would take hold. Ultimately though, people’s choices are their own, it’s just not worth it anymore and my husband and I are moving to New England in August and never looking back.
Democracy is when officials are elected, period. They may be bastards, and the wealthy may have a (substantially) outsized influence on the government, but the American people by-and-large have much greater influence over their elected officials than most other countries, especially non-democracies.
I was a freshman in college that fall and someone put up flyers for a memorial dance party in his honor. They had cheap beer and loud music which was fun enough for teenage me.
I feel like the left need to reclaim patriotism. It’s hard to get the average voter excited for your policies when you’re constantly shitting all over their home. That’s why I hang my big American flag in my window, with my trans and pride flags in the others. Fuck you rednecks, come and take it.
Any bets on which state will be next? My bet is Mississippi.
Marching in November does nothing. Active disobedience and (violently) refusing to accept dictatorship from January onward might.
But you can move within the US to a place where his people have less direct control over the local government. That’s what I’m doing.
I choose to believe that you’re being facetious.

Living in Ohio with my trans husband, we’re moving to Vermont this summer to get away from it all. I feel like I’m shirking my duty by taking our votes with us, but we really don’t want to be here come November. Ohio has gone to Trump two for two, and I’m not feeling lucky on number three.
My husband is FTM trans and we’re starting to get worried, living in Ohio. We’ve made the decision to move to Vermont this August because I just can’t guarantee his safety anymore. His family is wholly unsupportive and mine, while not malicious, just doesn’t get why we’re making such a big deal out something so small. It’s always “well [town name] is [town name], it’s always been rednecky, you just need to hunker down and wait for it all the blow over”. Not like this, and I don’t want to move into one of the 3-Cs just to have the whole state go tits up. It sucks, but at least in VT he’ll have access to a doctor. That and Ben & Jerry’s.
