You don’t want to sound like music that has one sound or line of melody being played by multiple instruments at the same time?
I think that might be the case for radio country music, but there’s a huge resurgence or Americana that’s been happening for the last 15 years or so. Phosphorescent, Damien Jurado, Black Mountain and a lot of others on labels like Sub Pop (yes, that Sub Pop), Dead Oceans, Warm, and more. It’s worth looking into if you have a hankerin’ for some rebel country in the tradition of Waylon, Willie, and Bocephus.
I feel like maybe I’m being a bit thick here, but there’s no way for people to go to… news sites?
Days after FBI agents spoke with Robertson on March 19 and told him they were investigating his social media posts, Robertson started posting content addressed to the FBI itself. He often said he knew they were watching what he was posting, and that the agents who spoke to him came close to being shot.
Crazy, isn’t it?
During his presidency, Obama approved the use of 563 drone strikes that killed approximately 3,797 people. In fact, Obama authorized 54 drone strikes alone in Pakistan during his first year in office. One of the first CIA drone strikes under President Obama was at a funeral, murdering as many as 41 Pakistani civilians. The following year, Obama led 128 CIA drone strikes in Pakistan that killed at least 89 civilians.
Agreed. What people don’t realize is that if they were to actually follow those recommendations, then oil companies wouldn’t be responsible for as much pollution. We can say it’s the corporations that are doing it, but it’s all of us that are keeping these corporations in business and buying the products that pollute. If we all took personal responsibility, the corporations 'level of output would decline. This is ALL about personal responsibility and it is infuriating to watch people say “well it’s the corporations” all the time.
I have around 1,000 records, and that one is the one I play most often. Such a stellar record. Transports me right back to that time.
If you haven’t read it, I can’t recommend his autobiography highly enough. He has a fascinating story.
I made the awful decision to go with Bowers & Wilkins over the Sonys. They sound okay, but the design is absolute garbage. Next time it’s Sony.
The thing is, DDO’s culture isolates it from the Mile End just as much as Vancouver’s culture isolates it from Red Deer’s. I get the sentiment, but it’s a big province, and a big country with all kinds of different ways of going about things. As a Quebecker, I don’t see a situation that’s different from anywhere else in Canada. Save for the language, but that’s just a language. It definitely is nice to have nice things here, though. :)
Well said. I’ll drink a beer in PJM while watching a softball game in the bleachers, or even in the north field in the grass, but it wouldn’t occur to me to go over to the playground and tip one back. Parks are shared spaces for everyone, not just families, and in a place where people gather to be with other people, there seems to be a natural division between the groups. It’s likely that those families will even have a couple of beers or a bottle of wine. I think the person you’re responding to thinks that it’s automatically going to devolve into a frat house hellscape with people doing keg stands. The reality is quite a bit different.
I was late for a flight once (in Canada) and they put a sticker on my luggage that said Retard. Just means late in French. You better believe I kept that sticker.
Amazing! I didn’t spot it straight off. Spent my 20s in the Bistro Praha and at Rigoletto’s. So glad they found a new spot for The Bistro. The fried breaded cheese is the best food I’ve ever eaten. From anywhere. And it’s not even close.
They will revisit once he has actually been found guilty. If they do it now, it sets a dangerous precedent.
