    I don't know if, knowing what I know now about how Shakleton's trip went, I would sign up for an expedition on the Endurance.

        If I remember right, he hammered nails through his boots to make primitive ice cleats, hiked out of there with a small group to safety, then immediately returned with help to rescue his men. Dude was a badass.

          Their journey is so unbelievable. He and a few of his men sailed 800 miles, essentially in a lifeboat, in the worst sea on earth. When they landed on South Georgia they were on the wrong side and had to hike over the impassable mountainous island to the encampment.
