minus-squareduncesplayed@lemmy.onelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up39·10 months agoJust an FYI that at this rate it’s only going to take another 115 years before Linux has 100% market share.
minus-squareMonkderZweite@feddit.chlinkfedilinkarrow-up11·edit-210 months agoMarket share is usually a curve.
minus-squareComradeKhoumrag@infosec.publinkfedilinkarrow-up10·10 months agoWhat if S-curve instead of linear rate?
minus-squareduncesplayed@lemmy.onelinkfedilinkarrow-up19·10 months agoYou mean Linux isn’t going to have 200% market share one day? Shit, I’m starting to think my calculations may have not been totally serious.
minus-squareComradeKhoumrag@infosec.publinkfedilinkarrow-up2·10 months agoI get that, I just like math
minus-squareDeclamatie@mander.xyzlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·10 months agoEntirely possible if the population dubbles
minus-squareAnUnusualRelic@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up9·10 months agoThat’s fine, there’s no rush.

minus-squarepriapus@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·10 months agoWhy would market share increase linearly?
minus-squarevalentino@lemmy.mlOPlinkfedilinkarrow-up2arrow-down1·10 months agoThat’s for August. And the growth is exponential, not linear.
minus-squaremnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·10 months agoTo a point. Let’s be honest it’s going to be more like an S-curve since you can’t go past 100% market share, and some people will refuse to switch. And people not wanting to switch is fine imo. Having competition will likely help all OS’s get better over time
minus-squareSwedneck@discuss.tchncs.delinkfedilinkarrow-up1·10 months agoi mean i'd prefer the competition to be BSD and such, not windows and macos

2138 is the year of the Linux desktop!
