Oh, we’re quoting the bible now? “I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.”

I’ve literally seen explanations of this verse saying “men and women have equal roles in serving God, just different roles”

      Equal but different, you say…

Someone pointed out that it is better to refer to “Christian Nationalists” as “Nationalist Christians” as it has a more accurate and convenient abbreviation, specifically, Nat-C’s

    Revelation 11:18
    The nations were angry,
    and your wrath has come.
The time has come for judging the dead,
and for rewarding your servants the prophets
and your people who revere your name,
    both great and small—
and for destroying those who destroy the earth.”

I think God is a gap filler in human understanding, and used in different ways as human understanding progresses to continue to fill gaps in understanding.

I’m not even addressing the possibility that there is some enormous power out there somewhere.

But using Genesis unironically like this make baby Jesus cry

When faced with an incomprehensibly complex universe our ancestors created an even more incomprehensible complex deity (or deities) to “explain” it.

Therefore making the problem more than twice as difficult.

I’m not surprised. Anyone ever read We are Legion (We are Bob)? A decent series but I feel like the US is looking more and more like it might end up resembling the one in that book, a really dumb, ignorant Authoritarian Theocracy.

Time will not cease to climate change. The human species will certainly cease, likely from an anthropogenic great filter.

We survived the threat of nuclear holocaust (for eighty-ish years so far) but climate change can induce war and famine and natural disasters. A population correction is almost assured and is imminent in civilization-scale time, and our survival after that event is in jeopardy.

Christian futurists believe escatology is part of their paradigm, and Reagan believed he would fulfill his part by launching a retaliation to the USSR’s initial nuclear strike. (The Soviets were determined to do no such thing.)

Still, the planet and its ecology will continue on without the naked ape, as it does the dinosaur, and will all but forget about us. Jesus and Christianity will die as we do, if not before.

Religious believers are not mentally ill. They’re deeply indoctrinated, and that can happen to any mentally sane people.

      They’re dangerous, though.

That’s the saddest part. They’re fully brainwashed into believing that asinine statement.
